He never stops educating himself about the ever-changing aspects of the financial services industry! Don has collected an array of professional designations over the years that run out the line beside his signature. Yet he started out as an NROTC engineering student at Penn State. After serving as a Navy officer during the Vietnam years, including a year on Swift Boats in country, Don embarked upon his next career. He was employed as regional manager for Lincoln National and Hartford as a prelude to opening his own financial services firm in 1980.
Professional designations earned in chronological order are Chartered Life Underwriter, Chartered Financial Consultant, Enrolled Agent, Masters of Financial Services, Masters of Taxation, Chartered Advisor for Senior Living, and Retirement Income Certified Professional.
President and co-owner of Key Planning, Don's ties to the Atlanta community go back to 1976 and include Northlake Kiwanis, American Legion, Dresden East Civic Association, and the Georgia Association of Enrolled Agents for which he has served as board member and president.
Don and his wife Jan have two children and three grandchildren, and they enjoy weekends at their home on Lake Chatuge. And count on the fact that he brings along a briefcase full of financial reading material.
